Universities
There are nine main higher and further education institutions in Stoke and Staffordshire including two universities and seven colleges. Other universities nearby include Aston, Birmingham, Manchester, Nottingham and Warwick.
Keele University
Keele is the UK's largest integrated campus university and occupies a 617 acre estate, with Grade II registration by English Heritage, the central feature of which is 19th century Keele Hall. The University is a major contributor to the local economy. With a turnover in excess of £102m and a total staff of some 1,700, the University generates around £130m of business in the region.

Health is a stand-out area of major growth and investment at Keele University. The campus houses its own undergraduate medical school, operated in partnership with the University Hospital of North Staffordshire, and delivers first class training and education to around 2000 clinical students.

Staffordshire University
Staffordshire University operates from two main campuses, one in Stoke-on-Trent and the other in Stafford with a co-funded University Centre in Lichfield. Some 16,000 students are studying for qualifications at any one time, including 3,000 postgraduates.
Staffordshire University is noted for:
- Being a national leader in delivering government-backed, fast-track, two year degrees.
- Investment in sector-leading facilities, including a fully equipped television studio, media centre and working broadcast newsroom.

Colleges
Colleges include Burton College, with approximately 14,200 students. South Staffordshire College (created by merging four established colleges at Lichfield, Cannock,Tamworth and Rodbaston) which has nearly 20,000 students. Other colleges include Stafford College, Leek College and Newcastle-under-Lyme College. In Stoke-on-Trent there are the Stoke-on-Trent College and the Stoke-on-Trent Sixth Form College which has recently opened its doors at their new state of the art development adjacent to Staffordshire University's Stoke campus.
