Enterprise Zone

The Stoke and Staffordshire LEP has a major success with i54 in South Staffordshire winning approval as part of the Black Country Enterprise Zone submission.

i54 straddles the two LEP areas and is of local, regional and national significance. Overall the development site is 91 hectares (226 acres) and with exciting projects already underway, i54 will undoubtedly become a magnet for further high value investment.

Although the detail has yet to be formally announced, occupiers can benefit from:

  • Business rate discount worth up to £275,000 over five years for firms that move into the area over the course of this Parliament.
  • Development of a simplified planning approach
  • Support for superfast broadband.
  • UK Trade and Investment will support inward investment or trade opportunities

With access to be directly off Junction 2 of the M54, the site makes it an ideal location for advanced manufacturing and technology-led projects.

In March 2011 work commenced on the new research and development facility for Moog, the U.S. owned motion control systems manufacturer. Furthermore, Eurofins is having a 50,000 sq ft two storey food and environmental testing laboratory constructed on the site. These two projects will safeguard nearly 600 jobs.

Adjacent to i54 on Wobaston Road are two further sites which are included in the Black Country Enterprise Zone. Lupus Park is a 10.5 acres (4.25 Ha) site situated between HS Marston Aerospace Ltd and EWS. The second site of 13 acres (5.26 Ha) is situated at the rear of the HS Marston Aerospace Ltd factory. The above benfits to occupiers are available on both of these sites.
