LaSalle Investment Management choose East Staffordshire

LaSalle Investment Management, acting on behalf of an undisclosed pension fund have completed the AL13.2m purchase of the First Point logistics unit at Centrum, Burton upon Trent.

Goodman annoucned in November that it had let the unit to arts and craft retailer, Hobbycraft on a long term deal.

Goodman UK Logistics’ managing director, Charles Crossland said, “The letting of First Point to Hobbycraft offered a very attractive investment opportunity

“The strategic Midlands’ location and the quality of both the tenant and the development resulted in good institutional demand and we are delighted to have secured such a quality purchaser.”

Hobbycraft have take the 213,000 sq ft First Point on Centrum 100. The move is expected to create some 250 jobs on the site.


Alliance Boots Expands Burton Centre

Alliance Boots has invested AL50 million in its Burton upon Trent multi channel service centre. The refurbishment of the centre has included an automated order storage and retrieval system and the installation of two mezzanine floors increasing space by 72,612 sq ft. The site houses Boots’ online and international businesses together with its Christmas gift ranges. The site currently employs 500 people but Alliance Boots claim that this could increase to up to 1000 at peak times now the expansion has finished. The facility supports order processing for the 25,000 product lines of the company’s e-commerce operation along with its 2,500 Christmas gift product lines and also services the company’s international distribution to Boots stores abroad.

Holland & Barrett’s new AL14m production plant at Centrum 100 in Burton has started production. The 130,000sqft packaging and processing plant can produce 75 million bags of dried fruits, nuts, snacks and seeds a year for distribution to the company’s 1,000 stores.

Holland & Barrett to set up manufacturing facility

Holland and Barrett go for manufacturing in Burton. The US owned and the largest retailer of vitamins, minerals and herbal supplements in the UK is to setup a manufacturing facility for the production and packaging of soft gel vitamins in a 100,000sqft unit on Centrum 100. The facility will sit alongside their existing 300,000sqft distribution centre.


Waterstones take DC on Centrum
