Cannock Chase

The Cannock Chase District, situated in Southern Staffordshire, is home to approximately 99,126 residents and over 3,327 businesses. There are three town centres (Cannock, Hednesford and Rugeley) and several parishes.

In 2018 a new district corporate plan was created reviewing the past 3 years achievements and confirming goals for the next 5 years. Promoting Prosperity in the District is a key corporate priority, projects such as the Designer Outlet Cannock and Kingswood Lakeside will help increase investment levels, employment and economic benefit to Cannock Chase.

McArthurGlen Designer Outlet Cannock represents a £160 million investment, creating 1,200 jobs and will attract around 3.5 million visitors each year to the district.

The Council is very experienced in securing external funding to support development of key opportunity sites from partners especially where they offer growth potential e.g. jobs and floor space. Providing a supportive business environment to enable businesses to start and thrive is assured for investors. The area offers many opportunities for businesses relocating and residing in the District. Cannock Chase lies close to a superb rail and road network making it a prime location for business relocations. Cannock is centred between the A5, A34, M6 and M6 Toll providing east-west and north-south access routes.

The District offers employers access to a large workforce catchment that is changing with local training & skills provision accessible on their doorstep. A new Engineering Academy and Retail Skills Academy are new investments currently taking place.

Future land supply is important to the District (especially to maintain the particularly high rates of investment secured. Exciting new housing and employment sites are in the pipeline which will provide even more opportunities for growth in Cannock Chase.

The Cannock Chase District offers many facilities to encourage a healthy and happy lifestyle. With two Leisure Centres, multiple skate parks, green spaces and other activities including; tree top adventures, ice rink and trampoline zone, there is plenty to experience locally. Our Town Centres have facilities to accommodate the discerning shopper and investment in the future of our Centres remains a key Council priority for the future.

A new McArthurGlen Designer Outlet is opening in Cannock in Spring 2020. This will secure Cannock as a regional destination as a place to visit. When complete the Outlet will host over 80 shops. Cannock Chase was designated as an AONB in 1958 because of its beautiful landscape, wildlife and history. It is the largest surviving area of lowland heathland in the Midlands. The AONB has extensive areas of forest and woodland along with areas of designed parkland, sand and gravel quarrying and mixed agriculture.

There are 6 Visitors Centres within Cannock Chase, all with a range of facilities to educate, entertain and encourage visitors to experience the areas natural beauty.
